Microsoft’s servers were rather slow or not responding. They were clearly not prepared for such a high demand. Yosemite is neededBeen in the desktop/server/network support business since 1987.Being a new apple user I have been facing many problems to operate it. Among many others, for now I need a statistical software to instal in my macbook pro 10.10.5.
Word 2016 Not Responding On Yosemite 10.10.5 Mac That SupportsOctoat 8:47 AMMicrosoft has released a preview of Office 2016, which you can download from the Office Web site (a 2.66GB download) and install on any Mac that supports it. The latest version of Office offers an interface that is optimized for OS X Yosemite, bringing a flatter look, and better integrates Office with Microsoft’s cloud services. It IS ridiculous that Apple requires 10.11 for the new mouse. I am onsite at a client's location and have been chasing down weird bluetooth issues on an older iMac and just discovered that the otherwise perfectly functional MM2 I just put in place can't scroll precisely for this reason.OS X Yosemite version 10.10.5 only allows for the following function to be edited: Diagnostics&Usage, Accessibility, Facebook, Reminders, Calendars, Contacts, and Location Services (see picture below). While it is true that a machine running OS 10.10 really has no good reason to NOT migrate to 10.11, insulting other members isn't ok.Give me a GOOD technical reason that there is some component of the MM2 that is fundamentally incompatible with 10.10 or previous OS, and I'll change my opinion.A mouse is a mouse. A failed $20 peripheral (which is the commodity price for a mouse, despite Apple's premium pricing) should not require an OS upgrade. With the underlying hardware technologies fundamentally unchanged in a few years, this is an arbitrary choice on Apple's part and it is a mistake. We have lots of customers using 2009-2012 Macs and many/most are on 10.9 or 10.10 and have no reason to migrate to 10.11.Forcing users to upgrade to a later SW release in order to use a peripheral is quite frankly a little silly. If there is a solid, sound reason why the drivers/functionality cannot be backported, i am all ears.I noted that elsewhere in this thread there was a statement that it was clearly (and i do emphasise this word) stated on the box that 10.11 is a requirement. It is indeed noted, but i must say that grey on white in very small lettering is hardly clear.A further addition i would add is that in my case i purchased the mouse out of frustration , missing the left right scrolling ability of the solution provided by my IT department, the only available mouse in the 'mac area' of the store was MM2 , so it's not like i was given a choice or warned of the 10.11 requirement.Like others here , i am not able at this point to upgrade to 10.11 (if i wish to have a supported system for work).Looking forward very much to a solution (other than putting myself in an unsupportable configuration) from Apple on this.Nor can you do anything to any folder directly above this file (e.g. You can’t rename it, you can’t move it, you can’t delete it. Unix is able to move, rename and delete files that are opened with a read-only file handle.Windows on the other hand won’t do anything to any file with an open file handle. I’m still seeing this issue with macOS High Sierra 10.13.1 and 10.13.2 – it did look like it was initially fixed in 10.13, and the issue was definitely better, however now with more heavy use and newer updates, we’re back where we were before. The symptoms are most apparent when we go into the Computer Management > Shared Folders > Open FilesEven on a small network (10-20 workstations) there will often be thousands and thousands of open files, all open in Read mode. These files opened in Read only mode are not an issue on a server running a Unix-type operating system.Have observed through windows open file utility that when a user traverses into a directory the directory considered locked but when they back out it indeed unlocks right away thus allowing folder naming and deleting capability. There are a few issues with Finder still but there are simple workarounds e.g. We are moving toward all endpoints to be 10.14.3 (or latest). The previous folder lockout issue appears to be resolved on 10.14.x. 10.13.x was a non starter even when attempting to edit /etc/nsmb.conf with suggested fixes. If we then select the open files and force them to close on the server, everything starts working again (until the open files build up and build up).Greetings….just want to follow up on the smb issueWe are again running a WS 2016 SMB3 fileserver for our mac clients in production.MacOS 10.13.x was a non starter even when attempting to edit /etc/nsmb.conf with suggested fixes. CheersWe are again running a WS 2016 SMB3 fileserver for our mac clients in production. Unless there is a specific nsmb.conf setting to which Im not aware. If anyone out there has seen client side adjustments or workarounds would be great to hear what those are. It appears there are some adjustments to be made client side for windows clients but none of this exists to my knowledge for mac clients. Ive tested this by using spacebar preview and observing server side the file unlocked after this amount of time. Msecure for mac helpDisable column view preview window as the server considers the preview file an open file so it locks the file when a user has it simply highlighted)…fairly easy solve although it takes away functionality somewhat from the users that like the column preview. The last major holdout is files themselves are held once opened and closed for ~20 minutes. Original rename issue appears resolved! There are a few issues with Finder still but there are simple workarounds (e.g. Have observed through windows open file utility that when a user traverses into a directory the directory is considered locked but when they back out it indeed unlocks right away. With some other folders, I get 1 chance to rename a folder by clicking twice or right-clicking. For some folders, I can rename them to my heart’s delight. Other users in my workplace suffer the same frustration. (Notice the Dd instead of –)# group: solves the issue for Mojave and newer Mac clients.Hi, I am an end user (not IT guy) using Catalina and accessing files on a server at my Uni via smb and have what I think is the same frustrating issue with renaming folders, including the test case (A, B, C).
